Nastent tube test and review (Back2sleep)
Ordered in 2020 and tested immediately, I am posting my opinion on this solution that my ENT had mentioned during one of my visits (without issuing an opinion, he had a sample in his drawer).

What is the Nastent or Back2sleep solution?
This solution is based on the very good idea of freeing the passage of air at the level of the respiratory tract using a tube.
Indeed, as I explain in this blog, snoring is caused by vibrations in the larynx, the passage of air being restricted by the relaxation of the muscles, which causes vibrations and snoring (possibly, in plus, sleep apnea).

A tube of the correct size should be inserted from the nostril to past the uvula. You should see the end of the tube when you open your mouth, hence choosing the right tube length, everyone is different.
You will leave this tube on overnight.

Is the Nastent or Back2sleep solution safe and secure?
Unlike other devices sold on the net, this solution (in any case, the new one marketed in Europe, Back2sleep) has the CE standard, which is really a positive point. In addition, on their site, they specify that they have the ISO 13485 standard .
While trying it, I could feel some discomfort sometimes, but no danger.
What are the differences between Nastent and Back2sleep?
Hard to say. On their site, they present the evolution of Nastent (Japan) towards Back2sleep (Europe). With a different organization, a research department and European manufacturing, but still a partnership with Japan and Nastent. But the difference between the current Japanese Nastent products and their products is not fundamentally understood. Perhaps it is above all a question of controlling production in Europe and also of facilitating the transition to European standards. To confirm…
On their site, there is a table of equivalence of size, which shows a certain similarity.
Contents of the box
I had ordered the “starter” kit. This kit allows you to choose the right size by testing the different lengths delivered.
Once you have determined your size, you can directly order the boxes to the right length.
My test and opinion
In April 2020, I had not yet carried out a covid test! I think that with the number of tests I took afterwards it could have helped me! So the beginning was difficult. It is not easy to insert a tube through the nostril to the mouth. But it’s like contact lenses (for those who have them), you have to persevere and you eventually get there.
Once inserted, the tube is felt, but there is no continued discomfort. You can then fall asleep with it.
My nighttime sound recording tests did not show any improvement .
But at that time, I had not yet carried out my turbinoplasty (this consists of reducing the turbinates) , I therefore still had congested mucous membranes.
I think that with a partially blocked nose, the tube also gets blocked and cannot perform its function. Or simply with a stuffy nose, instinctively, you breathe through your mouth (this is what also causes snoring).
Conclusion
I asked them for my readers for a special offer that I could offer you. This would make it possible to multiply the tests, also to control user feedback and publish it here.
I haven’t gotten an answer yet.
At this stage, it is difficult for me to comment on the real effectiveness of this device, since as mentioned above, my nostril was not completely “free”.
As a result, even if it didn’t work for me, I’ll put a neutral rating of 3/5 (moreover, this corresponds to the Amazon rating at the time of my order) while waiting to have a other customer test results or to do another one myself soon.
I strongly invite you to write to me if you have tested this product and let me know your impressions.
